European Sailing Championships – European J24 Open Championship

In August, the international sailing world will have its eyes on Gislövs Läge, off the coast of Trelleborg. From August 18 to 23, the Trelleborg Yacht Club will host the European Championship in the J/24 class—one of the world’s most established racing classes.

During the championship, sailors from several European countries will gather in Gislövs Läge for four days of intense racing on the waters off the coast. About 25–30 boats are expected to participate, with four to five people on each crew.

The race course is located just outside the harbor, which means that both spectators and visitors can watch parts of the races from shore. In addition to the races, there will also be an opening ceremony, an “after-sail” event, and a closing awards ceremony during the week.

The fact that the European Championship is coming to Trelleborg is a major event for the Trelleborg Boat Club and will also bring international attention to the destination. Gislövs Läge, with its coastal location and welcoming harbor atmosphere, will become a gathering place for sailors and visitors from all over Europe for a few days.

The championship is the largest event to date in the history of the Trelleborg Boat Club and gives Trelleborg the opportunity to further strengthen its position as a destination for international sporting events.
