Saudi soccer team chose Trelleborg for its training camp

Trelleborg recently welcomed an international soccer team. The Saudi soccer team Al Diriyah FC held a two-week training camp in Trelleborg, using Vångavallen as their training facility and the Willow Hotel as their base.

Behind the training camp is Al Fluin, owner of the sports travel agency Here We Go, who recommended Trelleborg to the club. With strong connections, a peaceful setting, excellent training facilities, and a pleasant climate, Trelleborg was chosen as the site for the team’s preseason camp.

In total, nearly 70 people traveled to Trelleborg, and a large portion of the group stayed at the Willow Hotel. The visit generated approximately 1,000 hotel nights and thus provided a significant boost to the local tourism industry.

During their stay, the team managed to train at Vångavallen, build team spirit, and face Trelleborgs FF in a practice match.

The visit highlights Trelleborg’s potential as a destination for international sports teams and training camps. The combination of excellent training facilities, accommodations, transportation, and proximity to the continent creates favorable conditions for more international sports visits in the future.

– “It’s great that Trelleborg has the opportunity to welcome international teams and showcase what the city has to offer. The visit is also a fine example of how sports tourism can contribute to both more visitors and more hotel stays in Trelleborg,” says Pehr Palm, CEO of Visit Trelleborg.
